Why you should get a qualified plumber to fix your outside tap
It’s not always easy to spot a dripping outside tap. Especially in the winter months when you don’t spend a lot of time outdoors. But left for too long, your water bills will creep up – so it’s best to fix it straight away. Most of the times a leaky tap needs a new washer or valve seating.
If you’re not sure how to change a washer or fix the valve seating, we recommend getting a qualified plumber out to help. They’ll first do a thorough assessment to work out what the problem is and turn off your water supply before starting the work. Your plumber will remove the head of the tap and old washer, fit the new one and lubricate all the parts. If the problem sits with the valve seat, they’ll use a reseating tool to fix it or simply replace the part if it’s beyond repair.
