Why you should get an electrician to install a video doorbell

A video doorbell adds an extra layer of security to your home. With a wireless camera in place, you can keep an eye on visitors while you’re home or away.

These little devices come in various types and sizes – some of them work with batteries, while others are hardwired. If you choose to install one that’s hardwired, we recommend hiring a Part P qualified electrician. These professionals are certified to work with electricity and have all the right tools and experience to get the job done quickly and safely.

Most hardwired video doorbells come with rechargeable batteries. So before your electrician start the work, make sure these are fully charged. Your electrician will turn off the main power and then remove your old doorbell. They’ll prep the wall and if it’s necessary, drill new holes before connecting the doorbell wires. If the wires are too short, they’ll use wire extenders. After your electrician has secured all the connections, they’ll attach the faceplate, turn the power back on and test your doorbell before they go.
